The England cricket team played in the first-ever Test match against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in 1877. Cricket Australia (CA)

Australia is one of the three founding members of the ICC and one of the most successful cricket nations in history. The Australian cricket team has dominated world cricket for significant periods, particularly during the late 1990s and 2000s under Steve Waugh and Ricky Ponting. Cricket South Africa (CSA)

South Africa is one of the three founding members of the ICC but was expelled in 1970 due to apartheid and only readmitted in 1991. The 21-year exile cost South African cricket dearly, with an entire generation of players unable to compete internationally. Since readmission, South Africa have been one of the strongest Test nations but have been nicknamed 'chokers' for their tendency to lose in knockout stages of ICC events.

India is the financial powerhouse of world cricket, with the BCCI being the richest cricket board globally. Cricket is virtually a religion in India, with an estimated fan base of over a billion. India's 1983 World Cup victory under Kapil Dev transformed the sport's popularity in the country, and the launch of the IPL in 2008 revolutionized cricket's commercial landscape. The BCCI's financial dominance has given India significant influence over ICC governance.

Cricket West Indies (CWI)

West Indies cricket represents a multi-national team from 15 Caribbean nations and territories. The West Indies dominated world cricket from the mid-1970s to the early 1990s, with arguably the greatest team ever assembled. Their decline from that peak has been one of cricket's most discussed narratives. Despite challenges, the West Indies continue to produce exceptionally talented cricketers, particularly in the T20 format.

🇳🇿

New Zealand Cricket (NZC)

New Zealand, often called the Black Caps, have historically been one of cricket's most competitive smaller nations. Despite a relatively small playing population, they have consistently punched above their weight in international cricket. Under Brendon McCullum and Kane Williamson, New Zealand achieved their greatest period of sustained success, reaching two consecutive World Cup finals and winning the inaugural World Test Championship.

🇵🇰

🇦🇫

Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB)

The country's cricketers, led by the likes of Rashid Khan, have become global stars through domestic T20 leagues. The Taliban's return to power in 2021 has created new challenges, particularly for women's cricket.
